July 11. - A new game called "Where's the cloud?"
Take a look at this strange map - and tell me where the cloud ist. You've got an idea? Good, let me know... :-). A day starting very promisingly with high MUF's in the morning from DL to TA and Italy to UA6 while 4X4 BC was into HA. Nil on 144. And the MUF went down rapidly at noon but late in the afternoon several clouds were building in the southwestern part of Europe. The one above mid-EA reached 235 MHz! But there were at least 2 other clouds being active in this region. Or was it just a huge one hopping back and force? At 17:20 144 opened from F into I8 and a bit later from EA7 into DL and PA0 while EA8 was into I4 and HB9. Minutes later suddenly EA8 was also 59++ into IO90 while EA3 made CT and a QRB below 900 km! And EA5 was working into I8 and 9H1 - very strange. Last sigs at app. 18:20 UT.
Later in the evening a very rare 144 Es took place in the very northern part of Europe. See map#2 and read the report from Oeyvind, LA1YCA from KQ10.

Today was my first Es this year :o) I was tunning 6m and conditions were very unusual: vy short skip QSO's, some with very strong signals, others very weak!
So I kept an ear on 2m, hoping something unusual (=Es) might happened there too. I guess I was on the right place at the right moment, hi.

3m was open a few time before with mni qsb, then a short 2m-opening in JN49FG, EA7RM called "CQ ES" on 144.300 then made qsy on 144.275 Mhz - nice thing to prevent QRM on 144.300 MHz:
